“You are the antidote for life.”

“You are the antidote for life.” he said in the moments after. He held me close, and my head rested on his bare chest. I could feel traces of myself on his skin, and I could taste myself on his lips. I could feel an absence of weight as opposed to the gravity of his existence when he walked in. He’d been a client for so long, and I’d seen him at various high and low points. But I’d never seen him quite like this. Life can be messy and answers scarce, and sometimes all we need is someone to hear us, touch us, and make us feel better.
